Planned to make a slow getaway this morning, as we took some time to go fishing in the lake. Well the kids did as I didn't have a Qld freshwater licence. After some missed bites, Richie's line got whacked and he reeled in this very nice Sooty Grunter. Even some od bloke said if he'd have caught it next weekend he could have won the fishing comp
After packing up and a quick cooling swim we headed off for Chilagoe where we planned to check their limestone caves. On the way we passed through Mareeba. Then a town called Almaden where the cows wander the town as if they own it and poop where ever they like.
We arrived in Chilagoe and stayed at the Caravan Park behind the service station which had plenty of big shady trees (a nicety out here in outback Qld.). We then did a quick drive out to the national park to check out the 'Balancing Rock'. The rock formations out there where quite stark, shapely and shades of black and greys. It was very different to all the ranges we'd been to before.
And last but not least a photo for the boys of the disco in front of some limestone rock outcrops.
Into some limestone caves tomorrow...
Till next blog,
Richard
