Today the plan was to head East out of the Territory into Qld to a town called Cammoweal. Just before we left a guy travelling the other way gave us feedback that Cammoweal wasn't very good. So we adjusted the plan to go hard and push past Cammoweal to Mount Isa, a total of 650 kms for the day. Penny took over the driving midway through the day when we got to the Barkly Homestead. Just so happens the road turned pretty bad at this point and bounced us around a fair bit. There was also one point where a road train got the sways up just before it got to us. I think Penny put squeeze marks in the steering wheel that day.
One interesting thing was the number of whirly winds (who knows the right name). But when they were over the top of burnt ground the ash made them dark and quite visible very high into the sky. (look close that's my car about to be sucked up).
It was a day of long straight roads with very little to look at, just flat ground to the horizon. I was surprised how dry it was this far north. The terrain did change towards Mount Isa to rocky hills, and eventually we limped into town and found a nice Caravan Park - 'The Sunset Caravan Park'.
