Today was a moving day so we had to get up and have a quick breakfast, wash up, clean up, shower and pack up and be on the road by 9 o'clockish
(normally it is more like 9.30). I think we are getting very good at it because we were ready to go by 8.45 am.
The first stop was Kronosaurus Korner. It is an Australian museum displaying local fossils from the Cretaceous Inland Sea that covered a large section of Queensland 120 million years ago.
There was a great display of fossils but the best two was the Richmond Pliosaur and the Kronosaurus Queenslandicus.
The Richmond Pliosaur is the best-preserved marine vertebrate skeleton in Australia and the Kronosaurus Queenslandicus is believed to be the largest marine reptile in the world. Kronosaurus head was over 2 m long which is twice as large as the skull of T-Rex, that is "BIG".
After all the information, the kids and I were all fossiled out(but not Big Richard), we needed to relax and cool down. There is no better way than a free water play area...and Richmond has one.
After a quick cool down , it was time to hit the road and head to Charters Towers.
Love
Penny
